Adding a dog to your household is always a very exciting decision. It is also decision that comes with a lot of vital decisions that will need to be made– one being when to start training your new dog. The sooner you begin training your dog with a professional dog trainer in Monmouth, the easier it will be to minimize unwanted and bad habits. This is because from the start you are setting clear boundaries and rules for your dog to follow. By not training your dog, you are not doing any favors by your dog and often can be putting them on the wrong path. Much like a young child with no rules or boundaries, they will push their limits regularly again and can commonly be unpleasant to be around. And to no fault of their own, they have just not been shown what is expected of them and what is appropriate and what is not appropriate.

Having your dog trained correctly is probably one of the best things that you can do for him or her. Not only do they respond to the commands that you give, but they also usually tend to be far happier, and more fulfilled dogs compared to dogs that are not. This is because you are providing mental stimulation; which allows them to use their brain rather than being bored and seeking ways to amuse themselves. Trained dogs are also less likely to end being re-homed, euthanized, or given up to a shelter; which is why it is so essential to start training your dog early on. And if you are unsure how to train your dog or how to correct problem behaviors; then it is best to meet with a dog trainer in Monmouth. They’ll be able to help you to better understand what your dog may need.

More About Monmouth

Monmouth is a city in and the county seat of Warren County, Illinois, United States.[3] The population was 9,444 at the 2010 census, down from 9,841 in 2000. It is the home of Monmouth College and contains Monmouth Park, Harmon Park, North Park, Warfield Park, West Park, South Park, Garwood Park, Buster White Park and the Citizens Lake & Campground. It is the host of the Prime Beef festival,[4] held annually the week after Labor Day. The festival is kicked off with one of the largest parades in Western Illinois. Monmouth is also known regionally as the “Maple City”. It is part of the Galesburg Micropolitan Statistical Area.

The town established in 1831 was originally going to be called Kosciusko (the name was drawn out of a hat), but the founders of the town feared that it would be difficult to spell and pronounce. The name ‘Monmouth’ was put forward by a resident who had lived in Monmouth County, New Jersey.[5]
